Coffee And Food
Coffee is the beverage of choice for multitudes of people, and not just in the morning. While some choose a different drink to get them moving and wipe the cobwebs from their brain, coffee seems to be the favorite. There are few aromas more tantalizing than fresh coffee brewing as you awake. However, it is also a favored beverage for all meals and a whole industry is now dedicated to coffee and coffee drinks for every kind of meal and snack. Whether you like regular drip coffee or an espresso coffee drink, you want to make sure you always make the best cup possible.
For some people lunch will bring their last cup of the day. Drinking caffeine in the afternoon and evening can seriously effect your ability to sleep soundly. As long as you don’t load your coffee up with too many calories it is just fine to have several cups during the morning hours.
When you are buying coffee, think of the different recipes that you have tried that are enhanced by a good cup of a good brew. Some people can’t think of scones without thinking of coffee (or tea). For others it’s muffins.
Adding Flavors To Coffee
Try adding spices to your coffee grinds to create your own “artisan” flavors. Think about things you would add to chocolate if you are having trouble deciding what to try. Start with simple things like cinnamon and nutmeg. You can also do things like adding a little vanilla abstract to your cup to enrich the flavor of your coffee.
Use your used grounds in your compost pile! Coffee grounds offer many beneficial ingredients to a compost pile including pest control. Used grounds contain caffeine which helps prohibit the growth of fungus that can quickly destroy your vegetable garden. The next time you brew a fresh pot of joe don’t throw away those grounds; add them to your compost pile!
After making your purchase it is important to properly store it for it to retain its freshness. If you will be using your coffee within a week, store it in an airtight plastic or glass container out of direct sunlight and away from heat. If it will be longer than a week before you will use it up, consider placing it in the freezer. There is just enough moisture in your beans that air can become an enemy.
Store Your Beans Properly
When you buy some coffee beans, put most of them away in an airtight container. Place the container in your freezer if you do not have a cool place to keep it. You should grind small quantities of beans, for instance enough to last you for a week. Experience with different grinding techniques if you want different flavors. Learning to make a good cup is like learning how to bake.
If you need a way to get moving and out the door to your job, coffee is an effective energy drink. Most people have more than one cup, but others are happy with just one. Whether you add sugar and creamer, or drink it black, this beverage tastes great if it is fresh brewed. Always keep in mind that some people like nothing better than a good dessert and a cup of coffee.
